So nearly a month ago, hubby and I went on a trip of a lifetime to Majorca with Rylan Clark-Neal and 97 likeminded people! Many of whom I would now call ‘friends’ we hope to stay in touch and possibly arrange a meet up. We won our trip in an online competition where the group created a video and party ideas for a plane to celebrate Jet2’s 100th plane. When we arrived at the airport we had a lovely rainbow of balloons to check in our own private area, we went through to departures and enjoyed tea/coffee, pasties and juice. Here we sat chatting to one another reading everyone name tags and getting to know who was who. Here Rylan appeared and welcomed us aboard and was happy to pose for a selfie with us.
When we arrived in Majorca we travelled in two coaches to our hotel, where we were welcomed with a drinks reception. We stayed at the Melia Calvia beach resort literally on the beach front. We then had some downtime before dinner and a quiz with Rylan! This was great fun and the winners won a holiday and the runners up won flights. We then were brave and headed out on the Magaluf strip with some of the group- A once in a lifetime opportunity! The staff from the pubs and bars on the streets were very pushy and did everything to try and convince you into their bars. Agreed their offers were good, but wow they didn’t give up!! €6 euros for 2 drinks, a shot, a cocktail and a (non-existent) t-shirt! Bargain! We struggled to drink all these after our free drinks at the hotel. We had a great night in a variety of different bars and felt we had sufficiently explored the bars and hustle and bustle of ‘the strip’. Some of the men were a bit grabby and sleezy! I do hope my girls never want to visit without Daddy to be their security!
On the Saturday we enjoyed breakfast, then went on a treasure hunt around the island. We had clues and visited each of the destinations and took a selfie with them, we then printed these out at the hotel to hand in. They said that the tie-breaker would be the ‘quirkiest’ souvenir! Here ours is:
Yes my crazy husband got a tattoo with #JustPlaneLucky. Little did we know that we would actually win the competition and win a holiday!!!! There were 5 of us in our group so we all won a £500 voucher each which is fantastic! Hubby and I are trying to decide where to visit.
On the Saturday afternoon we went chilled on the beach which was lovely and relaxing. Hubby went into the sea, I got up to my waist but it was freezing!!!! We then got ready for the party of the year, everyone dressed up (Hubby and I we lacking in the fancy dress department but we had a few accessories) JET2 created a fantastic private party room, all themed, with a sweet table, cocktails, bar, staging, decorations and photo booth.
Rylan announced the winners of the treasure hunt on the stage and were totally overwhelmed to have won! The bar served branded alcohol as strong as you wanted! You had to remember to say ‘stop’ otherwise you’d end with a massive measure! I enjoyed a few strawberry daiquiris (my favourite) before Rylan announced our surprise act! RUDIMENTAL! They were absolutely incredible! Such a great choice for an act to get everyone dancing. I did lots of live videos but took very few photos I was too busy jumping around with excitement.
Troy the magician was also walking around doing tricks, hubby spoke to him and was amazed by his magic! We honestly had such an amazing time with lots of great people, many who I had been friends with online for years but to meet in person was fantastic!
Ultimately a massive thank you to Jet2 and Kirsty who arranged the competition entry, Di for her amazing group and all of the people we spend our weekend with who weren’t ‘weird and geeky’ like my husband thought they may have been before the trip. He really enjoyed himself too. Rylan was such a gentleman and very down to earth, he was chatty and tolerant of all of the planes requests. He even poured cups of tea on the plane for us acting as air hostess. When we arrived home it didn’t seem real… we had such a busy weekend and packed so much into our short time in Majorca.
Now off to plan my next holiday …..
