Tie Die kit by Fab Lab – Review

We were recently sent a tie die kit by Fab Lab to review.

We bought some plain white t-shirts off amazon for about £2 a t-shirt to decorate. You can dye anything. T-shirts, hats, bags etc.

First you must protect all surfaces! Otherwise you will ruin fabrics, furniture etc.

Pop your protective gloves on (included) – these are child sized…. we used some of our own gloves for myself and hubby as we needed gloves too to help the girls.

Step 1: Soak your t-shirts in water, add water to your dies and lay your t-shirt out on a surface which is protected by a tablecloth or an old towel etc.

Step 2: Add your dye : you can twist and roll and add elastic bands to create different effects. There are some great ideas in the instruction booklet.

Step 3: Leave your t-shirt in a bag to soak in for 4-8 hours. Rinse in the sink. Then wash your items one by one in the washing machine & ta da they are complete and ready to wear.

What we thought: We had a great time creating these and the results were lovely. We would recommend this set as a great family activity, you get tons of dye so you could just use a few colours and save some for another day or go the whole hog and decorate lots of items, we decorated 5 t-shirts and could have easily dyed another 10. The girls love the t-shirts they have created and are wearing them as pyjama tops. K says our tops are better than the tops you can buy which are tie-dye.

Thanks to Wire Pr for sending us this kit to try. We received this #gifted in exchange for an honest review.

  1. This brings back memories of my Art class when we were taught tie and dye and the mess we made.
This kit sounds so much easier to use and you have created some lovely colours.
