Following on from our previous Project Mc2 review Big A was sent a smart pixel purse to review.
Project Mc2 is a team of super-smart and seriously cool girls who use their love of science and spy skills to undertake missions for top-secret organisation, NOV8TM (that’s “innovate”!). 2016 saw the launch of two new seasons of the Netflix original show, new products, and two exciting new characters – Devon D’Marco and Ember Evergreen.
Spring 2017 will see the girls return with a host of exciting new S.T.E.A.M focused products as seen in the Netflix original show, with further products hitting shelves in Autumn. Plus, keep your eyes peeled for a super-secret bonus episode launching on Netflix in February!
Marian Davis, MGA Entertainment Marketing Manager, said: “Project Mc2 was launched to inspire the next generation to pursue their interest in S.T.E.A.M subjects. With a popular Netflix show and more exciting products aligned with S.T.E.A.M launching in Spring, we hope to continue encouraging young girls and boys that Smart really is the New Cool!”
Big A was super excited to unbox and get started and has enjoyed creating patterns and images, even Little K has got involved creating her own images. It says suitable 8-12 years however we feel that younger children would be able to navigate the programme however they are unlikely to have a phone so like Big A would need to borrow or use an ipad/tablet (which doesn’t fit in the purse).
A bit about the purse – Pictured below the bottom item is the Pixel Purse. You can personalise the multi-colour LED display with custom designs and phrases by using the free iOS and Android apps.It is made from plastic and opens with a catch at the top with a fake zipper to open it and an accessory hanging clip. Inside is a holder for a phone with a wire to plug it in. You can customise colours designs, words, fonts and speed.
O
You need a phone or tablet to plug into the bag in order to transfer the images you create onto the bag but it is really simple and Big A managed to navigate the app without any assistance. The purse isn’t overly functional as a purse itself as there is not much room inside however it is an awesome toy and has created hours of amusement. Big A was excited to show it off to her friends too.
Good points –
- Fun
- Encourages design and learning
- Good quality screen
- Feels quality and unlikely to break
Areas for improvement –
- The purse could have a larger area inside to make it more functional as an actual bag
- Connect wirelessly (although this would mean product costs more)
- Soft edging feels quite rough
Overall – Big A absolutely loves this purse and is getting quite good at creating more accurate pictures on it now. Both girls enjoyed playing with this purse and I had a go to and it was great fun! This would be an awesome present for any Project Mc2 fan.
Thanks for reading.

My daughter loves hers. Do you know how to erase custom designs?
