Back in March I was lucky enough to win a twitter competition for a hotel stay at M by Montcalm in Shoreditch. Mum and I were excited to plan a trip away together to relax and enjoy some time away. We find it difficult to find time to chat without rushing from A to B.
From arrival at the M by Montcalm hotel we were greeted, taken to our room and shown around. The lady who showed us around was professional, interested in our conversation and very welcoming. Our room was a ‘Junior Suite’ which was beautiful. A minute or so after arriving at our room, there was a knock at the door, two ladies stood there with a plate of fruit and 2 orange juices for us. We felt like royalty! Our room was spacious and well designed with a seating area and sofa. We had some lovely Elemis toiletries in the bathroom along with other essentials such as a dental kit, shaving kit, cotton wool & tissues. There were also some scales… I’m not sure who weighs themselves on a night away… but we surely won’t be using them after enjoying dinner! We had lots of beautiful teas to drink and Krups coffee machine complete with biscuits. There was also some takeaway cups in case you want to make a coffee and take it out with you which is a fabulous idea! The beds were very comfortable and the TV had Sky which was great for bedtime watching. In the room was a mobile phone which you can take out and about with you which is an added bonus. There is also an umbrella for your use during your stay, the usual ironing board, shoe horn etc.
We headed out to Westminster for a walk and to see the procession to celebrate 100 years of the women’s vote. The atmosphere was fantastic, so many beautiful banners and costumes.
We enjoyed dinner at the Plate restaurant. We requested that we could enjoy our welcome drinks downstairs in the cafe before going upstairs for dinner this was no problem. The staff were amazing in the hotel, top class service, from the waiter putting our napkins on our laps, to pouring my mum’s soup into the bowl in front of us. The restaurant was happy to alter the menu slightly to compensate for my fussiness (I requested potatoes rather than green veg). They did this for me without any problems at all. We had an amazing tasty meal in a beautiful restaurant. I would highly recommend, the food was such good quality and the chicken was delicious.
After our meal we returned to our room the curtains were closed, slippers put by the bed and bottles of water put beside our beds. This was lovely after a busy day. The room was full of nifty electronic controls – air con, do not disturb, cleaning, lights, curtain close or open. There was mood lighting around the room which you could set to different colours.

In the room was a copy of Vogue magazine and GQ. We treated ourselves to a couple of items from the mini bar – chocolate eggs and spicy nuts! These were priced at £6 each.
Breakfast was delicious there was such a range of pastries, jams, honeys. It was all beautifully presented.
The Spa downstairs was lovely. We enjoyed a quick swim (pool wasn’t overly warm) and there were some seats and loungers around the pool with magazines. The jacuzzi was lovely. The decor was delightful we loved the mermaid type tiles in a pale pearlescent green. We both enjoyed a hot stone massage which was lovely and relaxing. It did suprise me that they didn’t have a swimwear dryer or bags for swimwear. We were also offered prosecco too which was a lovely gesture. They offer a wide range of treatments which can be found here – https://www.mbymontcalm.co.uk/spa-325.html
Overall we would love to return again and also discover other hotels by the chain Montcalm. We had a fantastic relaxing #Montcalm experience!
